Wow what a storm last night!

It all started about 8:00 when we got a call from our Grandparents that there was a large storm headed toward us with potential for tornados. While watching the radar and listening to the radio we found out a storm center with a tornado was headed right at us and about ten miles away, So we all got in the van and drove down into the thirty foot road cut that was made for Smithfield road through the hill that our house sits on. We still had laptops and were monitoring the radar, as well as talking to people from both Heritage and Providence church. With the storm headed right at us and only a few miles away now we lost internet and cell service (both of which has never happened to our house on the hill) and I think some Providence people panicked at this point. A few minutes later we heard the tornado (that tell tale freight train sound that we knew from Illinois) turns out it touched down on the other side of the ridge that we live on maybe 1 to 2 miles away. Once our internet came back we saw what had happened, Providence folks will probably remember we use to say Moses stood at our house in Illinois whenever much needed rain storms came our way. Well this was very similar. The Storm was headed right at us and then just broke in two and went right around us!

After that we went back to bed, but at about midnight Papa and the weather radio woke us up to tell us there was another storm and tornado headed our way. So we all did the Chinese fire drill and got in the van, but we got stuck in our yard while pulling out. So we all nine of us got in the Toyota Camry that on ordinary occasions only holds four, and drove to Nick L’s building on the square in Centerville, which is where we meet for church, because it has a basement. Well, after about an hour and a half there with all the other Heritage folks and getting no sleep at all (except for princess Grace of course) the second storm passed through so we headed home.

So now we are at home trying to figure out how to get our van (which is sunk to the axles in mud) out. Have no fear though the Heritage men are on the way and we will get it out even if we have to hook all 3 four wheelers, the Mule, two suburban’s, a Hummer and a F-350 4WD to it.  :-)

Which Party Is This?

We advocate:

1. An immediate and drastic reduction of governmental expenditures by abolishing useless commissions and offices, consolidating departments and bureaus and eliminating extravagance, to accomplish a saving of not less than 25 percent in the cost of federal government.

2. Maintenance of the national credit by a federal budget annually balanced.

3. A sound currency to be maintained at all hazards.

Any guesses? I think I'll vote for 'em!
