My Sister's New Website

Many of you have noted the beautiful hand spun and knitted items my children frequently wear. As you know, my very talented sister has been the bearer of these wonderful gifts. You will be happy to know she is now making some of her creations available for sale on her new website. You can check it out HERE.

I have included some examples of her work below.

Details

Ok, so we had our annual after Thanksgiving Day shoot today. Lots of friends... lots of shooting, we had a great time. After shooting we had several families just kinda hanging waiting for the big fire.

As y'all know we're trying to get ready to sell our house and move to Tennessee. One of the major projects is to get the yard cleaned up, you know, 70 some pallets for paint balling, telephone poles for backstops, assorted other items collected over the years.

So, we piled it all up where our barn used to be and set it ablaze, BIG flames, LOTS of thick black smoke (don't ask) and... it's starting to get dark. Then, some fine citizen trying to help us out with our little fire calls 911. (honey, what's the number for 911?)

Anyway, about the time the fire's in full song, up roll the firetrucks, the EMTs and the county deputy sheriffs (all with their lights and sirens going crazy) (must be a slow night) and they are really excited about putting out this fire, they about run over me and they even yell at me for not getting our vehicle out of the way so they can get to the fire.

So, after the first truck stops rolling, I try to talk with the driver (the guy yelling at me) and I say,

"it's a trash fire"

No response.

They jump out of the truck and start unrolling hoses and I say,

"it's a trash fire, maybe I should have called and warned ya or something"

No response.

Then I ask, "hey, did y'all bring your own water?" :-)

and they respond, "yes, sir! We got it!"

not wanting to keep them from their fun, I walk over and start talking the the Deputies (nice guys by the way)

and I say, "it's a trash fire"

and they say, "it's a trash fire?"

"yes, sir, it's a trash fire, I tried to tell those guys (pointing to the gentlemen hosing down the fire) you know we're moving, trying to clean up the yard a little"

At this point one of the Deputies starts asking me about the house, how many acres, bedrooms, bathrooms, why ya moving, how much...

"wow, that's a good price".

"Yes, sir it is!" ($129,900 if anyone wants to know)

So, the deputies go over and start talking to a couple of the guys not manning hoses, after which they come back and say, "sorry to bother you, but it looks like they want to put out the fire"

and I say, "hey, no problem, sorry for the hassle"

"oh, no problem, we' weren't doing anything anyway"

Then one of the firemen walk over for a little chat, I brighten up, it's Darin, from my Hopedale water tower days. (Darin works for the city, nice guy too, I might add)

So I explain to him, "it's a trash fire"

and he says, "it's a trash fire?"

"yes sir , that's right, we're moving and trying to do a little clean up and thought we'd burn some trash"

"oh, uh, would you like us to put it out or let it burn"

"well, if it's all the same to y'all, I'd just as soon let it burn, after all, it is a trash fire"

"hold on a minute"

So, he walk over the the hose guys and I can see 'em talking, pointing, talking some more, looking around, talking some more...

Then reluctantly, very reluctantly, they stop spraying down the fire (which is still burning pretty well, I might add, 70 pallets and all) ;-)

So, Darin walks back over and says, "since it's a trash fire we're gonna stop"

"hey, thanks! Sorry about the hassle"

"oh, no problem, we' weren't doing anything anyway... hey, did you ever get you water problem fixed?"

"well, ya see, its like this..."

... and then the firetrucks and the EMT's and the county deputies drove off into the night...

with their lights on of course...

pretty those lights are...

at night...

but not as pretty as my trash fire... ;-) which is still burning by the way (9:55pm)

General Thanksgiving

By the PRESIDENT of the United States Of America

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;-- for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our sasety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;-- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;-- and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;-- to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

Moving

The big news in Our Family's house is, we're moving! That's right, we're moving to Centerville, Tennessee.

I will be working with my friend Ken Carpenter at Franklin Films and Franklin Springs Family Media.

I'm also hoping to continue to labor with my brothers at Samaritan Ministries.

We will be attending Heritage Church and looking forward to laboring with the folks there.

More details to follow as they become available.
